The Seattle Underground Tour

Wow! If you live in or around Seattle and you have never done the Underground Tour, you must. If you can get past the hefty price tag of the tour, ($15.00 for adults and children are $7.00-$12.00) you will be able to enjoy yourselves.

The staff says the tour is best for children 7 and above. But we took our 3 year old and he loved it. First you listen to the history of the Underground for about 30 minutes and then you leave the building and walk across the street to the entrance. Then you go around to the 3 outside entrances throughout Pioneer Square and walk around the Underground. The whole tour seems to go by really fast and if you are lucky you get the woman tour guide with short brown hair. She is funny and really knowledgeable.

Seattle's history is amazing, everything from exploding "crappers" to tons of brothels and prostitutes. Thanks to one great Madam we have the Seattle Public School District. This city was progressive from the start! Thank you to the family of Bill Speidel for preserving this historic landmark and retelling the most important history of the city, how it started.

Also check out the Garden/ Waterfall Paradise when you make the trip. Bring a picnic basket and have lunch there. It is breathtaking even in the dead of winter. It is a few blocks up from the Underground Tour and is free!

We plan to do the XXX Underground night tour, they say is is awesome. But, I'll have to get around being in a haunted place at night with city rats.

If you park at the "sunken ship" parking it is talked about in the tour and you can have your say on if it is an eyesore or not.  I think if they got some local artists and painted it as a ship it might go with the flair of the city.
You be the judge.
